Teaching Ethos

I believe in a structured approach to learning an instrument and carefully prepare each lesson around the student’s individual needs. I like to set goals and review progress regularly, whether it be for learning a new piece or song, or just learning a new skill. I am very keen to find out my new students’ influences and favourite artists as I like to incorporate their songs into lessons to make them fun and engaging.

I follow the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) syllabus for the majority of my teaching, but also sometimes use the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) for classical studies and musical theory. I do not push students to take grade examinations, but strongly encourage them, as it allows the pupil and parent an idea of their progress.
